With alumni at leading dance companies, the dance department at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, remains home to one of the top college ballet programs in the country. This month, Butler Ballet, resident company of the university’s BFA program, adds Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet (1975) to its repertoire. Former New York City Ballet soloist Deborah Wingert set the work, originally choreographed on the Paris Opéra Ballet for the opera Faust. Also on the program are Cynthia Pratt’s 1st of 3 in 17, set to Mozart, and new works by Butler’s faculty members Susan McGuire, Derek Reid, Marek Cholewa, and Tong Wang.

Feb. 25–26, Clowes Memorial Hall. See www.butler.edu/dance.
